Gloriana and her husband Bill are keen walkers and experienced sailors. They have cruised extensively in the North Sea, Channel and Western Isles of Scotland in their boat French Melody. Sailing in the summer and maintenance in the winter took up a great deal of their time and so when French Melody was sold Gloriana looked for another hobby to fill the gap.

For sailing and walking she usually had a pocket camera with her so she decided to take up photography and to learn how to do it properly. She completed a series of courses at Darlington College little knowing how interesting and addictive it would become. She has eclectic interests but mainly concentrates on outdoor photography. She is drawn to he colours, textures and shapes of the natural world and captures images of plants and wildlife.

She has now been taking photographs for five years and has exhibited images in Barnard Castle, Northallerton, The Station at Richmond and also Darlington Crown Street gallery. Currently she has a series of cards on sale in venues at Bishop Auckland Pod, Hurworth and Darlington.
